Motion Capture
This is a small "Cutscene" that we as a group made that involved using the motion capture suit that captured our acting and movements and transfer it onto rigged models in Unreal Engine 4.

My Roles

Model Rigger
My first job was to find free models online (since we aren't really taught to properly model and modelling would take longer) and rig them in 3DS Max 2019.

Rig Skinning and Clean up
After fitting the biped model onto my desired model, I had to skin the model. This process took a while as I had to skin 4 different models as well as making sure the correct body part has the correct weightage on it (i.e making sure when the right leg moves, parts of the left leg or any other part doesn't move).

Actually Putting on the Suit

We wanted to recreate a scene from a friend's music video that they recorded in Redmond, Seattle during our studies there.

Placing animation onto rigged model
The punch- kick animation was given to us to practice by our lecturers. I tried putting the animation onto the model to test what parts seem off (like the right shoulder part not moving properly with the animation).

Filming in Unreal
My other role included setting the characters in the world, syncing the cutting and duration of the clips with the music and doing camera work like timing the position and movement of the camera to showcase the dance sequence.
​
Similar to 3DS max and Maya, I had to set keys at certain locations to smoothly move the camera as well as the positions and rotations of the models.
