Vindictive Ranger

Set in the distant future where the environment has given birth to monstrosities, Vindictive Ranger is a 2D side scroller adventure platformer where the player has to save his family from the vile creatures of the world.

​

Aside from being your everyday platformer, players can use a grappling hook to traverse the environment as well as using it to grapple enemies!

My Roles

​

Mechanics Programmer

Primarily, I did the grappling hook mechanic and the basic mechanics like running and jumping.

​

Aside from that, I came up with enemy functionality and interactivity of environmental objects with enemies.

​

 

Level Designer

Besides being one of the game designers, I primarily did Level Design for this project. There were metrics to take into account as well as actually teaching players the basics at proper locations.

​

One part for this project was during the grappling phase, the camera would be following the player constantly, making it hard for the player to focus their mouse on the grappling points.

 

Thus, I added camera lock at certain locations.
